Terms and conditions
Last updated 29 October 2026
1. About us
HorseFairs.ie is owned and operated by Lucas IT Services, Ireland. Email promauriya@gmail.com or use the contact page. These terms apply when you use the site or app. By creating an account you agree to them; if you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. What HorseFairs.ie is
A free directory and calendar of horse fairs, sales and equestrian events in Ireland. Organisers and visitors add listings, dates, photos, videos, ratings and comments, and moderators check them before they are published. We do not organise any event, and we are not a party to anything bought or sold at one.
3. Listings are a guide – check before you travel
Dates and details come from organisers and the community. We check them, and show dates as “confirmed” only once checked with the organiser or an official source, but events change, move or are cancelled at short notice. Always confirm with the organiser before you travel or transport animals. We are not responsible for loss caused by relying on a listing, except where the law does not allow us to exclude it.
4. Accounts
- You must be 16 or over to create an account.
- You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. Keep your email account secure; activity from your account is treated as yours.
- Your display name must not impersonate someone else or be offensive.
- You can delete your account at any time from your account page.
5. What you post
You keep ownership of your photos, videos, comments and listing text. By posting you give Lucas IT Services a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, resize, display and share that content on HorseFairs.ie, in the app, and in posts promoting the listing on our social media, with your display name. The licence ends when you or we delete the content, except for copies already shared or held in backups for up to 30 days.
When you post, you confirm that:
- you took the photo or video, or have the right to share it;
- anyone clearly identifiable agreed to appear, and no child is identifiable without a parent or guardian's consent (see the photo and video policy);
- listing details are accurate to the best of your knowledge, and dates come from the organiser, a poster or an official source;
- it does not break any law or anyone else's rights.
6. Not allowed
- Illegal content, including content showing animal cruelty or neglect contrary to the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013
- Harassment, hate, threats, or sharing other people's private information
- Fake events, fake dates, or listings intended to mislead
- Spam or advertising unrelated to the event (contact us about sponsorship instead)
- Selling animals in comments (use HorseSales.ie)
- Automated scraping that harms the site, or attempts to get around our security or spam checks
7. Moderation, reports and appeals
This section reflects our duties as a hosting service under the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065).
- Checked by people. Every listing, date, photo and video is reviewed by a person before it is published. Comments may be checked before or after they appear. We use a keyword filter and Cloudflare Turnstile to stop spam; these do not remove content on their own.
- Reporting. Anyone signed in can use Report on any listing, date, photo, video or comment. To report illegal content without an account, use the contact page and include the link, why you believe it is illegal, and your name and email. We act on reports promptly and confirm we received them.
- Statement of reasons. If we reject or remove something you posted, we email you saying what was removed, why, and that a person made the decision.
- Appeals. You can ask us to look again within 6 months by replying to that email or through the contact page. A different moderator reviews it where possible. You may also use a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under Article 21 of the Digital Services Act, or go to court.
- Repeated misuse. We may suspend accounts that repeatedly post illegal or clearly unfounded content, after a warning.
- Point of contact. Authorities and users can contact us at promauriya@gmail.com, in English or Irish.
8. Ads, sponsors and featured listings
The site is funded by ads, local sponsors and paid featured listings. Ads are labelled “Advertisement”, sponsor banners are labelled with the sponsor's name, and paid listings are labelled “Featured”. Featured placement does not mean we endorse the event or that its details are confirmed. Paid services are agreed separately in writing.
9. Our content and copyright complaints
The site design, logo and code belong to Lucas IT Services. Factual event information may be shared freely with a link back to the listing. If you believe content here infringes your copyright, contact us with the link and details of your work and we will remove it while we check.
10. Liability
The site is provided free of charge and “as available”. We do our best to keep it running and accurate but cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Irish law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2022. Otherwise we are not liable for indirect loss, or for the conduct of event organisers, traders, buyers or sellers.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We tell account holders by email about significant changes at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the site after that, the new terms apply.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim there.
